Well, once more, Hello
This month, a few words to explain more fully the range of repair panels we offer for the Bedford CF and CA range of vehicles.
Original panels have become considerably more scarce over the past few years, occasionally turning up on EBay, but seldom at auto jumbles any more.
So, to help repair and extend the life of your beloved camper etc. We have over the years introduced a range of panels to aid repair, so saving time, although we appreciate they can never replace original ones.
The CF1 1969 – 1980 rounded front; the bonnet of this model always has been a rot area, we only offer a complete bonnet made in glass fibre, this has been very successful, having a metal frame to take the bolts from your hinges, with an inner shell. The outer skin, has pre – drilled holes for the washer jets etc.
The CF 2 1980-1988 bonnet never Rots, and we have plenty of good use ones.

The Bonnet and CF1 Lower Front Valance Units
CFI lower front valance. This is often cut through when an engine is changed, or rusts away. A few new ones in metal do exist, but again we provide a good copy in glass fibre, pre-drilled for the indicator lamps.
Both CFI and CFII have excellent chassis’s lasting well beyond other makes, and after 300,000 miles often there are unmarked so they are never really an issue, apart from the rear spring hangers.
Both models suffer tin worm on the outer front wings, the CFI OSF is very hard to find new, we have a choice of used complete wings, cut from a donor vehicle, or glass fibre wings, which attach by pop rivets. An excellent fit can be achieved, with patience!

CF1 Wing, Used and Repair Rocker
The panel behind the wing, under the door, is known as the rocker panel. This item is very complex, and a weak spot, sound ones are rare. The only option is to fit a second hand item, or if it is the outer skin below the door, we do have a repair skin. Ultimately this rocker panel attaches itself to the doorstep. We have remade the step as an exact copy, with its reinforcing brackets, in a thicker gauge of steel.

Pictures of the Step and Door Skin Kit
The floor pans of the cab can suffer, but are just flat sections. The upper part of the windscreen surround from the gutter to wiper stems can rot, the only solution is to wait for us to find a secondhand section, this is a major job!
Both CFI and CFII front door bottoms can be saved, by a repair skin kit, which has all you need.
On certain models, where a pop roof has been badly fitted, rot can affect the inner and outer sills, and the rear wheel arches. Also, if you are unlucky, the rear quarter panel, which is really the lower section of a panel van.
All models can suffer from serious rot. The inner sills are fairly straightforward to replace, as a are the outer the sills.

The Inner and Outer Sills, Wheel Arch and Rear Quarter Panel
The remaining areas, namely the wheel area and rear quarter panel, are complex, and quite expensive to buy, as they are time consuming to make by hand. Readers should note at this point that this is not to find minute job to fit, and they would be well advised to seek professional advice.
In conclusion, the rear out a valance rarely fails.
So, that you have it!
All the Best
Adrian
