Well, Greetings at this Time of Good Cheer!
I scribe this early Seasonal Greeting whilst looking out of a veritable Winter wonderland, a Christmas Scene of Deep Snow, children playing, icicles dangling, an early surprise!
As usual, we wish you all a Peaceful Christmas, a Happy New Year, and we again thank you for your loyalty and custom over the past twelve, sometimes difficult, months.
I have managed to keep up a good supply of parts, indeed, even sourcing some from abroad as necessary. The only notable failure was in trying to source a fabricator for the remade fuel tank sender unit, the firm I had in mind, despite promise after promise, never came up with anything. As always, a balance between cost and volume, small short runs are expensive and longer runs mean unsold stock.
Over the years I have supplied for the CA King pins, anti roll bar link pins, and new this month, for the later 61-69 models both SWB and LWB handbrake cables are now available.
Ever mindful of prices, I have re-sourced from an alternative supplier the bushes fitted to the rear road springs of Bedford CF’s, (250 & 350) resulting in a price drop.
A major event for the autumn was the production and testing of a fully reconditioned 2300cc engine, and interesting learning curve for my staff and I , we had to make it work, but my trusty side kick is from an era that has been there before!
Once the New Year comes around, I shall try to do another unit, complete with new oil pump, which we now have in stock at reasonable levels of supply. This engine will have new pistons, reground crankshaft and shells, a brand new cylinder head with new valves, new crankshaft housing, all built by W. Drakes of Bradford, timed up and ready to fit. It will come together with a new water pump, and timing belt.
Keep your eyes open and don’t miss the chance when it comes to time to sell!
We have updated our online shop, which now features a wide range of Vauxhall and Bedford Carbs, as well as fitting gaskets.
On the engine side of things, I can now offer new or reconditioned oil pumps and gasket sets.
For you Panther Lima followers, I have managed to negotiate a better deal for the lumenition electronic distributor kit. This “well-known” after market product is very simple to fit, designed for the DIYers amongst you. It radically improves starting, and gives a smoother tick over on all 1800 & 2300 Sloper Engines. And in the long run can contribute to improved mpg.
I have sourced a supply of master light switches, LUCAS 1825A type.
