Dear CF Owner,
I hope this latest newsletter finds you well, and hearty and what an Indian summer! , a bit late but nice all the same and now fire -works herald the forth coming winter season.
This past week I attended the WHITBY MORRISON open day at their Crewe Works, they have an amazing Heritage Collection and on -going restoration of older models, it would have been nice to have to have seen some of the bodywork and painting skills, but health and safety issues fore -bade this., so all packed away which was a shame to those of us who had travailed some distance.
One interesting arrival has been a 1986 CF2 350D tipper, the cab was so rotten, so we are now selling the complete aluminium tipping body , which is a drop side with a double ram in perfect working order. It will be supplied with all fittings and pump etc, ideal for someone converting a Luton to a tipper or making in to a builders trailer, a lift can be arranged !
Some cabs we get are just too good to scrap, so we have built up a collection of parts many already removed for example:
Cab roofs/side doors/ A posts, here’s an example a front wind screen schuttle even a complete van shell:
On the spares front, whether it be EBay or cost of fuel, not much has turned up at autojumbles this year, apart from a pair of CA doors and a LWB osf door.
Some CA rubbers items have become impossible to find, so think twice before ripping off the old ones!
CF stock stays the same, though 2.3 petrol viscous couplings and plastic fan blades are no longer available. We do have a solution , by going back to the older system , which a lot of people prefer.(if you have an old used coupling and fan, please let me know!)
We still have a few new rear door window rubbers left on offer
One of this years biggest hits has been our range of stainless steel exhausts , we cover all BEDFORD CA/CF modela and an increasing range of AUSTIN/MORRIS 1100+1300 as well as the bigger A60 range of MK5 models, but we are aware of a budget need for some low use CF 1970s models using the twin front box and long tail pipe , these we can do for £75.00 in mild steel needing some cutting and fitting (ring for further info)
Well, that’s your lot till next time!
Actually, that’s not quite your lot, I nearly forgot:
Many thanks to COMMERCIAL MOTOR ,who in their 25/8/11 issue featured a “road-test” of a 1971 ice-cream van.
The article was spread over 4 pages , I have a few photocopies left please send a large SAE, and finally appreciation to the editor for printing my reply.
OK, well that really is it in a somewhat extended edition, hope you found it interesting, let me know if you did, or even if you didn’t, is there anyone out there reading these articles I strive so hard to come up with every six weeks or so?
Best Wishes
Adrian
